HSE Approved Medics Team

Abermed has a dedicated team working behind the scenes to ensure that every eventuality is covered. The team uses our established database to source the right medic for the job, ensuring each one is fully qualified, experienced and have had their references checked.

The offshore medic support system is the latest online tool to be developed by Abermed. The core purpose of this system is standardisation of medical practices, medical equipment, drugs / dressings / consumables and ultimately service quality.

Medics supervision

Medics require supervision and the authority of a doctor to prescribe drugs. Before we will give this authority we need to be confident the medic is competent.

Our medic supervision service includes:

• Providing the Abermed medical protocol manual
• Reviewing medical logs
• Auditing the sickbay on a yearly basis
• Assessing the medics on a yearly basis

Topside cover

Medics are generally not doctors and they require the support of a doctor round the clock to ensure they can deal with the medical issues they face offshore.

Abermed’s topside service provides this advice. Topside cover can also be provided to vessels which do not have a medic on board.

This is a 24/7 service which is based in Aberdeen and Norwich.

There is always a hyperbaric trained doctor on call and Abermed is the only topside providers to fully support activities in the North, Central and South sectors of the North Sea, as well as off the south and west coasts of Ireland.
