New Unit Manager at Great Yarmouth
Friday, 19 February 2010
Stefan Bristow has been appointed as Unit Manager of our Great Yarmouth and Norwich Units, while current Manager Phil Smith moves into a new post as Executive Director.

Stefan has been with Abermed since January 2009, while Phil has worked for Abermed and its predecessor North Sea Medical Centre for more than 20 years.

The moves are part of a wider reorganisation at Abermed, which has seen finance director Ross Haworth move up to become Managing Director, based in Aberdeen.

Previous managing director James Miller has become Chairman and Chief Executive and will be primarily based in London with Phil.

The changes pave the way for continued global expansion at Abermed, which recently joined forces with International SOS, the world’s leading provider of medical assistance, international healthcare, security services and outsourced customer care.

Phil and James will focus on the strategic growth of Abermed while Stefan will be responsible for the units in Lowestoft Road, Gorleston-on-Sea and Norwich Airport, which employ 22 members of staff.

Phil said these are exciting times for Abermed:

We are looking forward to an interesting new chapter for Abermed now we’re aligned with International SOS and I am delighted to have taken over the role of executive director. I’d also like to congratulate Stefan and I know he will do a great job as unit manager.”

“I will be working with James and the team to focus on our profile in the UK as well as internationalising our occupational health support services through International SOS’s global infrastructure and developing our medical training services and consulting businesses.

“We have been established in Great Yarmouth for many years and remain focused on offering high quality occupational health and medical services to the oil and gas industry, which makes up 70% of Abermed’s client base, but the partnership with International SOS means we can offer an even more extensive range of benefits to our clients.”

Stefan Bristow added that client-focus was a key element behind the operational changes. “We are a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation and these developments will enable us to continue to meet the needs and requirements of our current and prospective clients. I am delighted to take on this new role with the aim to help Abermed progress and focus on our commitment to quality and added-value.”
