Dr Chris Schenk

Abermed Limited is delighted to announce that Dr Chris Schenk has joined the company as UKOH Medical Director (Southern Region). Dr Schenk will be based in London and will be responsible for Abermed’s clinics in England including Teesside, Great Yarmouth and Southampton. 

Dr Schenk qualified at Charing Cross Hospital, London and is a registered GP and Occupational Health Specialist. Dr Schenk served in the army for a number of years working in Aviation and Occupational Medicine and General Practice which took him to locations across the world including Berlin and Brunei. After completing his higher professional training in Occupational Medicine, Dr Schenk went on to put his skills to good use working in several prestige positions.

Dr Schenk comes to Abermed from Duradiamond Healthcare and has been based at Heathrow Airport where he applied his General Practice and Occupational Health skills.

As a market leader in the provision of remote medical support services to the oil and gas industry and occupational healthcare services across the UK, Abermed, has joined forces with International SOS, the world’s leading international healthcare, medical assistance and security services company. Dr Schenk has recently returned from a two week induction process organised by International SOS which took him to Singapore and Indonesia and included a remote site visit. He is now going to be spending several months in Aberdeen where he will be working with Abermed’s Remote Medical Services team and getting to know the oil and gas industry.

Dr Schenk commented. “Working with Abermed is a great opportunity for me to learn about the offshore energy industry and my position offers me the prospect of mixing operational and clinical duties.”

Dr Schenk will be visiting Abermed’s clinics to meet the staff and to find out more about the services they provide as well as learning about their clients and their specific occupational healthcare requirements.

Ross Haworth, Abermed’s Managing Director, welcomed Dr Schenk to the company.  “Chris is a tremendous addition to the business and, with his range of experience, brings a new dimension to our medical team.”

Dr Schenk is married and has three teenage children. He enjoys all forms of sport and has an interest in photography. Dr Schenk is a keen motorcyclist and before starting with Abermed went on a European motorbike trip with one of his new colleagues Dr Andre Willemse.   This could be viewed as an extremely novel job interview process but we’re doubtful that two-wheeled interviews will become the norm!
