Des Smithwhite Financial Controller

Global occupational health specialist Abermed Limited has appointed Des Smithwhite as Financial Controller.

Des, who will be based in the company’s Aberdeen headquarters, joins Abermed from Ensco Services UK in Aberdeen, where he was Assistant Director of Finance and Administration.

He spent a few years in London, working as a Financial Analyst with Coca Cola before joining Paramount Entertainment in 2000 where he progressed through a number of roles from Financial Analyst to Accounting Manager.

Des then moved into the oil and gas industry and joined Vetco Gray in Aberdeen in 2006 as the ERO Reporting Manager.

He qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in 2004.

As a market leader in the provision of remote medical support services to the oil and gas industry and occupational healthcare services across the UK, Abermed, recently joined forces with International SOS, the world’s leading international healthcare, medical assistance and security services company.

Des will lead the finance and IT teams, as well as working alongside the operational management teams. He will also work closely with the International SOS Corporate Finance and IT team in Singapore.

Originally from Newcastle, Des is married with two children and away from work he enjoys outdoor activities such as running.
