Job Title: Receptionist/Screening Technician
Job Location: Edinburgh
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Responsible to: Central Belt Unit Manager
Abermed are seeking an experienced and proactive Receptionist/Screening Technician with exceptional customer service to join our Edinburgh team. This role contains a significant amount of front of house duties. The successful candidate will be a flexible team player within a small office, be able to multi-task and prioritise tasks as required, show strong attention to detail and accuracy and have strong IT skills.
This role involves assisting in routine tests conducted during medicals. Screening technicians work as part of a team with nurse and doctor colleagues. Previous experience in a clinical, hospital or care environments is advantageous. A nursing qualification is not required and full training will be provided.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Receive, manage and direct incoming calls to Administrators, Managers and medical personnel
• Typing and managing correspondence and reports
• Making bookings at external clinics on behalf of clients
• Client and patient administrative case management
• Secretarial and administration support to doctors and nurses as required
• Man reception desk and deal with Patient’s paperwork and queries.
• Updating patient details on computerised diary
• Open, sort and redistribute incoming post. Distribute lab results/blood results/GP reports etc to relevant Client Administrator or Medical Personnel. All accounts correspondence and other post to relevant parties.
• Frank all outgoing post, prepare courier parcels and ensure all post collated ready for collection by Royal Mail.
• Scan files, fax, email or post certificates and other internal correspondence to client companies as appropriate after patient’s appointment
• Scan laboratory results/blood results/ GP reports/ and other correspondence received onto patients medical records on OMED.
• Correlate medical results received and send to client companies, patients, Abermed Medical personnel as appropriate
• Measuring and recording the following health data; Height and Weight, BMI, Peak flow, Pulse and Blood Pressure, Taking of bloods, Vision Screening, Urinalysis, Electrocardiography, Spirometry, Audiometry, Drug Testing, Alcohol breath tests, Chester Step test, Fitness Assessment. Measuring and recording of confidential details of the above.
• Maintenance of stocks of dressing and consumables required in the performance of screening duties
• Liaise with medical and administrative staff on matters of mutual relevance in performance of professional duties
• Assist in administrative duties associated with patient care
• Attend clients premises and installations offsite as required
• To be aware and act in accordance with company policies and procedures, relevant Acts, legal demands and ethical standards, including data protection and confidentiality.
