Abermed has appointed a full-time psychotherapist as part of its plans to expand its mental health care provision.

As well as providing a psychotherapy service to organisations with employees experiencing a range of difficulties such as stress, depression and post-trauma related conditions, Jamie Patterson is exploring the use of technology and telemedicine and the development of specialist psychological support services to the oil and gas industry.

From his base in Aberdeen, Jamie is keen to utilise new technology and specialist software to enable the team to provide counselling and other psychological support to clients working in remote locations.

Jamie trained in cognitive behavioural psychotherapy at the University of Dundee and is fully accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies and United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy. Originally from Liverpool, he studied psychology (honours) at the University of Aberdeen.
