| Abermed become market leader in Scotland with Edinburgh acquisition |
|
Abermed has become the only industrial and occupational health specialist covering the whole of Scotland following acquisition of Offshore Medical Services (Edinburgh) Ltd (OMS) by the company. The Edinburgh operation adds to Abermed’s existing network of Scottish offices in Inverness, Aberdeen and Glasgow. Edinburgh-based OMS provides general and occupational health advice, compulsory medical certification and a travel medical service to the oil and gas and maritime industries, including commercial divers. The company was established in 2002 by Dr Harry Rycroft, Marjorie Croughan and Michael Croughan. OMS has pioneered the development of enhanced ‘Fitness Testing’ in the offshore market and operates strategic contracts with many UK and multi-national oil and gas operators. Director of OMS, Dr Harry Rycroft, comments: “As the directors were approaching retirement, we were looking for an appropriate exit strategy. We are delighted that our company is joining a committed, high quality service provider which is a like–minded organisation. This deal will enable us to provide both continuity and enhanced service levels to both our clients and staff.” Abermed managing director James Miller says: “This strategic acquisition strengthens and complements our capabilities both geographically and in the area of fitness testing. The addition of an Edinburgh operation will give our clients even greater flexibility and we are planning to invest in further staff resources in this office in the very near future.” |
