Occupational health care specialist Abermed has opened a third medical centre in Aberdeen, situated within the offices of e-learning leader Atlas Interactive. A range of occupational health services, including offshore medical assessments, are being offered at the new base at Offshore House, located at Bridge of Don’s Science and Energy Park, also home to Atlas’ newly re-launched training centre. The medical centre is staffed by a doctor and nurse and is open to all of Abermed’s clients. Atlas Interactive is a specialist provider of innovative and interactive e-learning courses for the global oil and gas industry, with particular focus on HSE and technical subjects. Its premises have new conferencing and training facilities as well as a 60-seat e-learning centre and newly opened restaurant for trainees and visitors, and clients can attend the medical centre while taking part in a course, saving them a considerable amount of time. Both Abermed and Atlas Interactive service the international oil and gas sector and combining medical checkups and training is a well-established practice where a person’s fitness impacts on their ability to perform their role, such as working offshore. Sue Jordan, Aberdeen Units Manager at Abermed, said this was an exciting development for the company, which is now the largest provider of Oil and Gas UK medicals worldwide. “Abermed and Atlas Interactive are world leaders in their respective fields of industry medical services and e-learning and we are delighted to be working with Atlas Interactive and to have opened our third base in Aberdeen. “The new medical facility is fully equipped to allow our staff to carry out offshore medical checks and other services offered to clients, such as pre-employment, drug & alcohol testing, consultations and health promotion. “The location at Offshore House means that clients who are based in or around Bridge of Don can opt to go to the new office instead of travelling to our headquarters at Foresterhill or our other centre in Dyce. “Working together with partners such as Atlas Interactive and Falck-Nutec – combining medicals with offshore survival training – allows us to offer a highly efficient service to our clients and reinforces our expertise in, and close links with, the oil and gas industry,” she added. Sally Hayles, VP of Sales - Europe at Atlas Interactive, said: “This collaboration between Atlas Interactive and Abermed is part of our plan to proactively create a more efficient service offering to the oil and gas Industry and has been designed to save our E-Learning Centre clients travel time and expense. “Our popular courses such as Induction, Permit to Work, ISSoW and Safety Awareness can now be combined with medical services under one roof. Additionally there will be no need for delegates to wait around as they will be called away from the e-Learning course when the medical team are ready, therefore ensuring no down time or logistic arrangements.” For more information or to make a booking, contact Abermed on 01224 788800 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
