One of the leading providers of occupational health services to the energy industry, Abermed, has completed the latest phase of its post-management buyout development plans with a move to new custom-designed headquarters on the Foresterhill complex in Aberdeen. The £8million annual turnover Aberdeen-based group which has branches throughout the UK, underwent a management buyout in 2005, at which time it predicted sizeable growth and a requirement for new premises. The new 7000 sq ft facility at Forest Grove, Foresterhill Road, is one and a half times the size of the company’s previous offices and will cater for its full range of medical and occupational health services as well as providing offices for its nationwide management and administration. “We have been planning a move to the right premises for some time,” explains James Miller, managing director of Abermed. “We have experienced a substantial increase in business, and therefore have a clear requirement for additional space. We took the opportunity to go beyond that and invest in a state-of-the-art facility. We have also expanded our range of services and increased our staff numbers to 50 in Aberdeen and 100 across the group, so this is indeed a major step forward. “The brand new premises have been designed specifically to suit our needs, to ensure an efficient service to clients, improve quality, and to address some of the preferences expressed by Abermed staff and clients”. The two storey building is within the Foresterhill Health and Research Complex opposite Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, and has a tailor made layout, a large reception and waiting area, and an increase in the number of consulting, screening and vaccination rooms. Abermed provides medical and occupational health services to the oil and gas industry and traditional businesses, in the public and private sector. The company has facilities in Great Yarmouth, Teesside and Inverness as well as its main operation in Aberdeen and a satellite office at Dyce. Much of its activity is overseas by way of provision of medical facilities and medical personnel. The increase in size of facility will enable Abermed to continue expanding its market share, recruit further key personnel and consider additional services. |
